What should I expect during my first massage session?
Your first session will begin with a brief intake to discuss your goals, areas of tension, and any health considerations. From there, we’ll create a customized treatment that fits your needs. You’ll always be draped for comfort and privacy, and your feedback is welcome throughout the session..
Do I need experience to join an Ashtanga class?
No experience is required. Our led classes are supportive of all levels, with variations offered so you can practice at your bodies own pace.
Do you accept insurance/ HSA / FSA payments?
At this time, we do not bill insurance directly. However, we can provide receipts if your plan allows reimbursement or HSA/FSA card payments.
Do I need to undress during my massage?
You are always welcome to undress to your comfort level. If you prefer to leave your undergarments on that is perfectly ok. You will always be fully draped with either a sheet or a blanket. Your comfort and sense of safety are always our top priority.
What should I bring to a yoga class?
If you have your own yoga mat or rug you are always encouraged to bring them to class, along with a water bottle and or a small towel. If you don’t have a mat or props no worries the shala we hold class in has mats, straps and blocks for you to use!
Is massage safe if I am pregnant or have a medical condition?
Massage can often be very supportive during pregnancy and for many medical conditions, but some precautions may apply. Please let us know about your health history when booking so we can ensure the session is safe and supportive for you.
Where are you located?
Chikitsa is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Full location details will be shared upon booking. Our yoga classes are held at ASHA however 4600 Copper Ave NE.
Are workshops open to all levels?
Yes. Whether you’re new or experienced, workshops are structured so that everyone leaves with tools they can use in their daily lives.
How do I sign up for a Trataka Full Moon Meditation night?
You can register through our calendar page on the website. Space is limited to keep the experience intimate, so we recommend signing up in advance. We will always post for the full moon nights a month in advance.
